  The hidden Watchtower writers.

  the watchtower smoke and mirrors dept.

  are very fond of saying that appostates who post on the internet are like satan in eden hiding their identity just like the devil who used the serpent.. this begs the question why do the awake and watchtower writers need to hide behind the printing presses of the evil tower, what are they ashamed of or more to the point what is the govening body frightened of ?.

  maybe the book club and rip off society are guilty of identity theft in not declaring the names of their writers..

  That's what the WTS is doing. They are concerned with the masses of people who would be harmed if they suddenly gave up and announced they were the "evil slave." Since I'm not offering them any alternative as the messiah, my followers are all secret. They have a choice of keeping the masses as content as possible. They rationalize even though they might not have the full truth, people need the organization and it serves an important social structure for its members, which it does. So they just ignore the truth and maintain the organization.

  I think that is quite an insightful comment. Keeping the numbers up and structures in place is more important than truth. They feel they have to keep increasing the masters "talents", so that they can make a good "accounting" to the master when he returns, statistically. Keeping the numbers, stats up has always been more important than humbly admitting "these interpretations make more sense than our current ones....we need to dump this creed/policy?"

  disfellowshipping policy change?

  i saw someone posted regarding speculation of a chnage to the disfellowshipping policy.

  is this accurate and what has been speculated?

  There was a rumour some time back that some change to the policy had been put to vote on the GB but it did not get the necessary 2/3rd's majority.

  No idea what change was proposed.

  If the rumour is true, it means there is division in the GB about this policy. Yes, God's "faithful channel" disagree amongst themselves that JW's should shun ex-JW's.

  How many will bother going to the bookstudy between now and January?

  if i were still in, i would find it hard to be excited about going to the book study now that i know it is doomed.

  the revelation book has already been hashed to death.

  the silly five finger death grip illustration doesn't apply any more.

  The main message behind this change is that meeting attendance is indeed dropping off significantly in the western world and accordingly they really have been left with no choice but to rationalise the meetings. Branch overseers and CO's have been sending increasingly worrisome reports to Headquarters about that and this change is a direct reaction to that.

  Taking that thought further, this change means the organisation is unmistakeably in 'decline', particularly with the youth, despite the 3% increase in publishers last service year (mostly poor, illegal immigrants pouring into the US).

  External pressures (economic, demographic, media, legal) are forcing the Society to rationalise legally, financially, congregationally (meeting-wise), and before too long, creed-wise.

  Book study reminiscing - what was your memorable bookstudy experience.

  i must admit to feeling a bit nostalgic, sentimental now about the loss of the good old home book study arrangement.

  there are many rather pleasant memories coming to the mind of various homes i attended for the book study.

  i can still remember vividly most of them.. it had a warm, convivial, family feel about it.

  I must admit to feeling a bit nostalgic, sentimental now about the loss of the good old home book study arrangement.

  There are many rather pleasant memories coming to the mind of various homes I attended for the book study. I can still remember vividly most of them.

  It had a warm, convivial, family feel about it. When it was over we all enjoyed sitting around and just chilling and chatting like normal, friendly people. For the bookstudy to end feels like what a poster said on another thread: a bit like the death of a friend. Then again, Oompa made the funny observation:

  Oh yeah, we will miss Sis. Wilbersons basement painted Pepto-Pink, and the wonderful scent of moth balls wafting through the air....the drone of the window air unit and the distant tinkle of the run-on terlit................goodby good times..............oompa

  My most memorable experiences at the bookstudy are when people got the giggles badly. I'm not quite sure if it is a pleasant or horrid memory. It wasn't anything really unique - a friend farted quite loudly on a plastic seat and three young people could not control their giggling and had to leave. My friend, the poor bastard, later lamented that he was in agony from gas build up (a common plight during meetings it seems) and so deliberately tried to sneak one out for a bit of relief. But alas, to his and everyone else's mortification and gleeful amusement, it was a short, sharp fart of the high pressure type that was magnified by the plastic seat this brother was squirming on. A costly error. The conductor was an Amish type former special pioneer and boy was he not amused. So funny. What are your best (or most horrid) book study memories?

  Changes? The Explanation You May Overlook

  it's not that hard: 98% of watchtower changes are because of money and the threat of legal liability.

  holding meetings in .

  private homes brings up all sorts of negative legal opportunities against their interests.. yet, even with this well established fact, there could be a second factor emerging:.

  You could have GB members and others who have silently lost their faith in this idiocy but lack the conviction of a Ray

  Franz and want to hold on to their positions.

  Essentially agree. As the years go by, more and more senior people in the organisation, right up to the GB, are no doubt experiencing more doubts about more teachings! It's simply the natural human reaction to so much time passing and so many failed expectations and increasingly bad publicity. Some of the GB even in Ray Franz's time had doubts about the 1914 chronology and that has to obviously be even truer even now, and concerning even more creeds.

  Journey-on, yes I am indeed the same person as the original yaddayadda. I shifted address, changed ISP, and lost my password and the administrators couldn't help. I am also Must obey! but decided to go back to my old name, but mark II.

  And yes there will be some fairly major tweakings to the disfellowshipping rule in the years ahead.

  we're pretty sure what will happen next week but not why.. this thread is just for a list of changes that will affect those who still go.. .

  1) no more private book study arrangements.

  the book study host will ask themselves "why?".

  While this change is long overdue, it will be interesting how they pitch this scripturally, particularly in terms of one of their favourite scriptures...Hebrews 10: 25 & 26....."not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together....and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near..."

  For years the brothers have been brow-beaten with obnoxious illustrations about how attending all five meetings is as important as hanging onto a cliff by all five fingers of your hands, how missing just one meeting is like turning your nose up at a personal invitation to join Jehovah for a meal, blah blah blah....

  It was a sign of real spiritual weakness and a lack of respect and submission to the Governing Body's leadership to miss the book study. Now this change is suggesting that those who have been "forsaking" the book study were probably right all along.....

  It sends a signal out that all those 'weak' ones who have been irregular with their meeting attendance were justified, because all along it was all a bit too much to expect of everyone anyway. The rebels have been rewarded!!

  Some will start to think "well, if only attending two meetings a week isn't 'forsaking the gathering of yourselves together', then perhaps just attending the Sunday meeting isn't 'forsaking the gathering of ourselves together' either.
